One MLB Bet To Consider On Sunday May 21st 2023
Padres vs. Red Sox 4:10pm
Padres Moneyline (-140)
We are going to back Padres starting pitcher Michael Wacha in this matchup. In three starts this May (19 innings), Wacha has allowed just 6 hits and 1 earned run. He’s coming off of a season high 11 strikeout performance. Red Sox starter Cory Kluber has been trending in the opposite direction. In Kluber’s three May starts (15.1 innings), he’s allowed 19 hits and 10 earned runs. Cory Kluber is really struggling with giving up the long ball. He's allowed at least 1 home run in each of his 8 starts this season. The Padres bullpen has been improving throughout the season. San Diego currently ranks 5th in the MLB in bullpen ERA (3.33), and tied for 1st in bullpen WHIP (1.17). It is worth noting that the Red Sox offense hits right handed pitching very well (Michael Wacha is a righty). However, the pitching advantage looks to be significant for the Padres today. San Diego on the moneyline is our wager.
