This matchup will feature two of the best starting pitchers in the National League last season. Julio Urias finished the season with a 17-7 record, 2.16 ERA, with opponents hitting just .199 against him. One of the only pitchers in the MLB who had better opponent average metrics than Urias was Diamondbacks ace Zac Gallen. To summarize it, the Diamondbacks have an improved roster structure, a very good defense, and no pitcher was hotter than Zac Gallen down the stretch of last season. Our only slight concern here is that Gallen struggled a bit in spring training. That said, a few rough innings in spring ball is no reason to overreact. Our wager is a half unit on the Diamondbacks to pull off the opening day upset in LA.
