Thunder @ T-Wolves 9:30pm
Thunder +5.5 (-107)
We have bet on the Thunder a lot this season, and this team has been very kind to us. One of the spots we’ve looked for with OKC has been getting them as a road underdog. This team has been undervalued on the road all season. The Thunder are 23-11 against the spread as a road dog. In terms of this matchup, the Thunder X factor will not be as significant tonight. We often highlight how the Thunder are very athletic, and play extremely fast. OKC likes to wear their opponents down with pace and high volume scoring. However, the Timberwolves are comfortable playing fast. Minnesota ranks top 10 in the NBA in most running and tempo metrics. The Timberwolves rank top 5 in the league in offensive field goal percentage. The Thunder offense relies more on volume of shots than efficiency. Defensively, these teams grade out close to one another. Their overall defensive ratings sit at 113.1 (Minnesota) to 113.2 (OKC). One final note to consider. The Timberwolves chemistry and team morale looks concerning to put it lightly. From players fighting on the bench, punching walls, to suspensions. It’s not what you want to see from a team heading into an elimination game. We can’t quantify the impact of poor team chemistry, or put a number to what it's worth for bettors. It is certainly worth considering though. The Thunder are a young group who look to be bought into head coach Mark Daigneault’s system. We will take the 5.5 points with the underdogs and root for the upset.
