Thursday Night Football Best Bet 12/15/2022
49ers @ Seahawks 8:15pm
49ers Moneyline (-167)
This is a tough game from a betting perspective. The market is between 3 and 3.5 depending on your book. All of the 3.5's looks to be juiced up on the Seahawks, and all of the 3's are juiced up for the 49ers. In terms of the matchup, the 49ers without a doubt have an edge on the defensive side of the ball. You won't find a single key defensive stat where the Seahawks rank higher. Offensively, these two teams grade out very close. The DVOA metrics (which are adjusted to strength of schedule) have these teams ranked right next to one another. That said, Deebo Samuel is out, and this will be 49ers rookie QB Brock Purdy's first career NFL road start. Seahawks star running back (Kenneth Walker) will return to the offense tonight after missing Sunday's game. All of that considered, it seems fair to give a slight tilt toward the Seahawks offense at home. We don't like to look too far in the past, but it is worth noting that the 49ers have a TERRIBLE track record in Seattle. We encourage you to look up just how bad it's been over the last 5-6 years. Regardless, we are going to side with the better defense tonight. The 49ers offense still has a lot of playmakers on that side of the ball. Christian McCaffrey ran wild last week, and got to rest most of the 2nd half. The Seahawks run defense ranks middle of the pack, so look for the 49ers to lean on McCaffrey and their stout offensive line tonight. George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk are both healthy and available in the passing game. We don't see much value laying a juiced 3, and our data suggests there is a strong push possibility on the 3. We will opt for a 1 unit wager on the 49ers moneyline.
