Three MLB Bets To Consider On Sunday September 3rd 2023
Tigers @ White Sox 2:10pm
Tigers F5 Innings Moneyline (-145)
It’s tough to stomach laying juice behind a below average team like the Tigers. That being said, we see a significant pitching edge favoring Detroit today. Tigers starter Tarik Skubal has some of the best advanced pitching metrics in the MLB. Skubal has struggled a bit on the road, but the sample size is way too small for us to be concerned. White Sox starter Michael Kopech had an ERA over 7 in his 5 August starts. Even more concerning was that Kopech had a 1.98 WHIP in the month of August. Both bullpens are questionable, so we will opt to limit our wager to the first 5 innings of this game. Make sure that you place your wager in the “2-way” first 5 innings market, which does not include a tie. If this game were to be tied at the end of the 5th inning, this ticket will void rather than lose. Tigers first 5 innings moneyline is our wager.

Diamondbacks vs. Orioles 4:10pm
Diamondbacks Moneyline (-139)
We like this spot for Diamondbacks starter Zac Gallen. Arizona’s ace has struggled on the road at times this season, but he’s been phenomenal at home. Gallen is 11-1 with a 1.79 ERA and 0.92 WHIP at home in Arizona this season (85.1 innings). Today the Diamondbacks will face a very good Orioles team. However, Orioles starting pitcher Jack Flaherty has been struggling. Flaherty has a 6.41 ERA and 1.52 WHIP since joining the Orioles. Baltimore has lost 3 of the 4 games that Flaherty has started. We are going to side with the much better starting pitcher. Our wager is on the Diamondbacks on the moneyline.

Yankees @ Astros 7:10pm
Yankees Over 3.5 Total Runs (-130)
In this bet we are looking to take advantage of some expected regression for Astros starter Christian Javier. The Astros starter has an impressive 9-1 record, and the team went 4-1 in his 5 August starts. However, Javier’s ERA has been north of 6 in back to back months (July & August). Javier had an extremely alarming 1.84 WHIP in the month of August. The Astros scored 39 runs in his 5 August starts, which is largely why his poor metrics have been swept under the rug. Our wager is on the Yankees to score 4 or more runs over the duration of this game.
