One MLB Bet To Consider On Friday May 19th 2023
Phillies vs. Cubs 7:05pm
Phillies Moneyline (-125)
These two teams are both coming off of being swept on the road. The Phillies dropped 3 out in San Francisco, while the Cubs lost 3 straight in Houston. Phillies starter Ranger Suarez is making just his second start of the season. Suarez was one of the key performers during the Phillies World Series run last season. In his first start back last week Suarez pitched 4 innings. He allowed 3 earned runs on 7 hits, and recorded 4 strikeouts. Suarez looked to have good command walking just one hitter. Cubs starter Marcus Stroman has been struggling. In his most recent start, Stroman lasted just 2.2 innings. He allowed 6 earned runs on 7 hits. This season Marcus Stroman has pitched well at home in Chicago (2.79 ERA), but has struggled on the road (3.86 ERA with a poor walk rate). These two bullpens have both been unreliable this season. It is worth noting that the Cubs have hit left handed pitching well this season (Suarez is a lefty). However, the Phillies offense hits righties very well. Philly ranks 2nd in the MLB in batting average against right handed pitching (.273). Our wager is a half unit on the Phillies moneyline.
