The third round of the NBA in season tournament is in action tonight, with 11 games on the slate. Our wager is on the very last game of the evening. We are taking the +7.5 points with the Houston Rockets against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers are struggling mightily this season, and it’s gotten worse since the acquisition of James Harden. They’ve lost their last six games in a row. The Rockets are on the complete opposite end of that spectrum, having won their last six. Both of these teams' most recent game came against the defending champion Denver Nuggets. The Rockets managed to pull out a three-point victory, while the Clippers suffered a three-point defeat. Games against the elite teams always serve as a litmus test for teams around the league. The Rockets passed with flying colors, keeping up with Denver across every statistical category. To their credit, the Clippers managed to put together a solid game against the Nuggets, catching fire from three and managing to stay within striking range until the end. The Clippers have been unable to put teams away early, or to win close games down the stretch, routinely making mistakes that cost them games. Until the Clippers get over this hump and start winning games by double digits, we are comfortable grabbing the +7.5 points behind this hungry Rockets team. Our wager is a half unit.
