Royals @ Diamondbacks 9:40pm
Royals +0.5 First 5 Innings (-130)
A large part of the reason why the Royals are 5-17 right now is due to their poor hitting. The Royals rank second to last in the MLB with a .211 batting average. Kansas City is the worst team in the league at hitting right handed pitching (.201). However, the Royals hit left handed pitching much better. They currently rank 8th in home runs against lefties, and the Royals team batting average rises to .236 when facing southpaws. Diamondbacks starting pitcher Tommy Henry is a lefty who is making his first start of 2023. In Henry's final three starts in 2022, he allowed 7 home runs in just 10.1 innings. Royals starter Brad Keller has pitched pretty well to start the season. He has struggled a bit with walks, but hitters are not squaring up on him often. Brad Keller has allowed 3 hits or less in three of his four starts this season. The Royals bullpen is a bit suspect, so we will opt for a first 5 innings bet here. By taking the +0.5 run line, the Royals must either be tied or winning at the end of the 5th inning.
