Phillies @ Cubs 8:05pm
Phillies Moneyline (-125)
We are siding with the Phillies in this matchup for a couple of reasons. First, Phillies starter Ranger Suarez has been pitching fantastic this month. Suarez has a 1.04 ERA and 2.65 FIP in 26 innings pitched in June. His last 3 starts were against some of the better offenses in the MLB (Braves, Diamondbacks, Dodgers). It’s also worth noting that Suarez is a lefty. The Cubs offense has been below the league average against left handed pitching over the last month. Cubs starter Jameson Taillon has not pitched well this season. Taillon currently holds a 6.71 ERA and a 5.18 FIP (both worst of career). He’s allowing almost 10 hits and 2 home runs per 9 innings. To make matters even worse, Taillon is 0-3 with a 14.73 ERA in his last 4 starts against the Phillies. He faced the Phillies once this season in Chicago back on May 20th. Taillon failed to make it out of the 3rd inning allowing 6 earned runs (including 2 home runs). These simply are not metrics that we want to put our money behind. Our wager is on the Phillies moneyline.
