The Peach Bowl kicks off at noon EST today with two teams who had similar seasons. Penn State handled business in all of their games, other than against the two top dogs in the Big Ten (Michigan and Ohio State). Ole Miss won all of their games this season, outside of the two top dogs in the SEC (Alabama and Georgia). Ole Miss will be without a starting tackle (via injury), and a starting edge rusher (via opt out). The Rebels had a handful of players hit the transfer portal, but no one of significance for this game. Penn State had their top defensive player Chop Robinson opt out, in addition to one of their top corners, Johnny Dixon. It remains to be seen if Penn State tackle Olumuyiwa Fashanu will play. He practiced this week but is also a projected top 10 pick in the NFL draft. He and his agent may opt for a business decision to keep him out or limit his snaps. What draws us to the over is the two talented QBs, and all of the offensive weapons across both teams. This game is being played indoors in the Mercedes Benz Dome. Both offenses can strike quickly. Penn State lost their defensive coordinator Manny Diaz (took head coaching job at Duke), and won’t have the anchor of their defense. Ole Miss’s defense looked extremely vulnerable against good offenses during the final stretch of this season. In the month of November, Texas A&M put up 35 on Ole Miss, and Georgia scored 52 points. Our wager is a half unit on more than 50 total points to be scored.
