Best Bet For Purdue vs. Penn State
(College Football Week 1)
Purdue vs. Penn State 8:00pm
Purdue +3.5 (-109)
Last season, the strength of Penn State was on the defensive side of the ball. Penn State lost nearly 50% of their defensive production from last season. They also lost their defensive coordinator (Brent Pry), who got the head coaching job at Virginia Tech. On the offensive side of the ball, Penn State lost Johan Dotson (1st round pick in the NFL draft), and one of their best lineman. In total, Penn State is only bringing back 10 starters from last season. It is worth noting, coach James Franklin has a lot of high recruits in the Penn State backfield. For Purdue, our biggest concern is how their defense will look after losing 2 key players. Their top pass rusher from last season (George Karlaftis) was a 1st round pick in the 2022 NFL draft, and their leading tackler from last season (Jaylan Alexander) is gone as well. Purdue has a lot of upperclassman on their defense this season, which should help soften those key losses. This will be a blackout game for Purdue, the crowd will be loud and intense! The last time Purdue was a home dog (November of last season), they upset undefeated Michigan State and stormed the field. Purdue's quarterback Aidan O'Connell is highly talented. He was arguably the hottest QB in college football last season down the stretch. We will see if he can carry that same momentum over to this season. Either way, we are going to take the +3.5 points with the home dog. Our bet is one unit.
